Well stacked

To the left of where I sit typing this in my study (which was the house's master bedroom when built in 1887 and, until I was ejected from my study downstairs as a result of Laura's growing business, was our posh living room - ie the one never used) stand my main bookshelves. We had these built specially for the room, which is what I felt my book collection deserved. Unfortunately, although the shelves occupy one complete wall of the room, they aren't large enough to hold all my books and the shelves are a mess, with books standing two deep and, in some cases, ten or twelve high on each shelf. This makes it hard to find a particular book and doesn't look that great, either.
Now, this is not mere idle boasting about the number of books I own. Honest. As if you care. I've been looking for a topic for a podcast that would interest me enought to commit to regular production and which both dovetailed with an interest of mine and which might be slightly different to anything out there. Now, there are already book-related podcasts, with many taking a look at new books etc. I wanted to look at older books, instead. Many new books just don't grab me the way older stuff grabbed me. So, I thought I would just pick some books at random from my shelves and try to rediscover them. Perhaps talk about my own situation when I got them, why I got them, what they meant to me, a little about the authors etc. I want to convey my enthusiasm for these books that provided me with so great a part of the way thay I look at the world.
Well, we'll see how the first one goes. I'm not talking heavy duty lecture here. This is going to be more of a ten minute overview. With jokes. Perhaps some sex, if that's appropriate. (Don't ask.)
